People often ask me if the materials from Goesting in Taal can help them understand their West-Flemish neighbours, friends and colleagues. The answer is: no, not really. Why? Because West-Vlaams is a very specific regional dialect, often even difficult to understand for other Flemish people. This project is about tussentaal, the language you would hear in a conversation with people from different regions (let's say a person from Antwerp, someone from Hasselt, someone from Gent, someone from Levuen and someone from Brugge) or a conversation between people who don't speak real dialect anymore.
Luckily, the West-Vlamingen have developed a great app to help people understand them and learn about their colourful dialect: "Iedereen West-Vlaams"!
